Power Grid Corporation of India, a government-owned power transmission company, has achieved a major sustainability milestone, with half of its energy consumption now sourced from renewables.

The company operates across India and disclosed the achievement under SEBI Regulation 30.

The green energy target of 50% was reached through a combination of rooftop solar installations and a Solar PV plant at Nagda, integrated across all pan-India facilities. These initiatives form a core part of the company’s ESG strategy, demonstrating operational capability in sustainability management on a national scale.

“Achieving this target across all locations represents a major step towards a greener future,” the company stated. “The ability to implement green energy solutions across geographically diverse installations showcases our operational capabilities in sustainability management.”

The milestone aligns with growing global trends in renewable energy adoption and reinforces Power Grid Corporation’s leadership in environmental stewardship. By converting half of its electricity consumption to green sources, the firm reduces reliance on conventional energy and sets a benchmark for other industrial and utility operators in emerging markets.

Power Grid Corporation’s approach also highlights strategic integration of renewable technologies within large infrastructure networks, providing a model for cost-effective and scalable carbon reduction. The combination of distributed solar projects and large-scale PV generation illustrates the practical implementation of green energy at utility scale.

The company’s disclosure offers transparency for investors and regulators, underscoring the role of clear reporting in achieving ESG objectives. The achievement reinforces confidence in its ability to balance operational demands with environmental responsibilities.
