Self-driving bus project could pave the way for wider rollout in Belfast

The Harlander autonomous shuttle, now operating free rides around Belfast’s Titanic Quarter, could mark the start of a broader self-driving future for the city. Backed by Belfast Harbour and set to run without safety operators by 2029, the project aims to demonstrate the viability of autonomous public transport. If successful, similar vehicles could appear across Northern Ireland—pending legislative support.
