Irish innovators secure major EU backing for breakthrough health and acoustic tech

Two Irish companies have clinched up to €18.75m in EU funding under Horizon Europe’s EIC Accelerator Programme. CroíValve is advancing a minimally invasive heart valve device to treat tricuspid regurgitation, a condition with limited surgical options for elderly patients. Lios is scaling its SoundBounce acoustic material, which outperforms traditional noise dampening across sectors from transport to construction.

This funding reflects a shift towards deep-tech solutions tackling health and environmental challenges at scale. With almost one third of successful companies led by women, this round also highlights the growing role of female leadership in high-impact innovation.
