AFBI completes major digital upgrade of marine research vessel

The Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute (AFBI) has installed advanced virtual computing infrastructure on its RV Corystes, enhancing real-time data processing and modelling at sea. Funded by the UK’s DSIT, the upgrade supports AI-driven research and will prepare scientists for the launch of a new £28m hybrid vessel in 2027. Developed with Dell Technologies, the platform enables flexible, secure operations for marine science missions focused on climate, fisheries, and oceanography.
